Explore Cost-Effectiveness Analyses Alongside Clinical Trials

Gain the skills to design, conduct, and report cost-effectiveness analyses within clinical trials. As more countries integrate economic evidence into regulatory and reimbursement decisions, understanding how to assess economic value alongside clinical efficacy is essential. This course follows Good Research Practices from the ISPOR RCT-CEA Task Force Reports, providing a structured approach to integrating economic evaluations into trial research.

Technical Topics Include:
  • Trial design: Evaluating effectiveness vs. efficacy in cost-effectiveness trials
  • Data collection & management: Selecting key economic data elements, integrating resource use and health state utilities
  • Database design: Structuring economic data collection for analysis
  • Analysis methods: Conducting incremental analysis with an intention-to-treat approach
  • Uncertainty & reporting: Characterizing uncertainty and applying standards for presenting results
  • Clinical outcome measures: Obtaining direct health resource use data from study subjects
This Course Includes Tools and Concepts That Can Be Immediately Applied, Including:
  • Practical guidance on designing cost-effectiveness analyses within trials
  • Step-by-step integration of economic data into clinical studies
  • Hands-on analysis of trial data, including uncertainty characterization
  • Case studies demonstrating best practices for reporting cost-effectiveness results

Familiarity with economic evaluations will be helpful.
