Value in Health is an international, indexed journal that publishes original research and health policy articles that advance the field of health economics and outcomes research to help healthcare leaders make evidence-based decisions. The Society’s flagship journal, Value in Health is a monthly publication that circulates to 10,000 readers around the world.
For the past few years, Value in Health has demonstrated significant growth in the journal’s impact factor. The journal's current impact factor is 4.5 and the 5-year impact factor score is 6.2. The journal is now
rated 8th of 87 journals in the Health Policy & Services category, 21st of 105 journals in Health Care Sciences & Services, and 69th of 380 journals in Economics.
The journal has also witnessed more than a 70% increase in submissions
over the past 5 years. As a result, the editors now find it necessary to reject many more papers without peer review, including ones that may be suitable for publication in other leading journals. In 2022, the journal’s overall rejection rate
was over 83%. Although we recognize that authors never want to hear that their papers are rejected, we also know that they value a fast response time. That said, the editors strive to return decisions on papers that are not sent out for an external
peer review within 2 weeks.
