Delivering HEOR Impact Through Global Member Engagement

ISPOR chapters operate throughout the world to develop the field and advance HEOR excellence in their regions. More than 85 ISPOR chapters work globally to help advance the Society's mission. Additionally, well over half of ISPOR’s regional chapters are based in low- and middle-income countries, extending the impact of HEOR in regions where healthcare systems are developing capacity.

Chile National Ranking of Impactful Practices in HEOR

What Was Done?

The Chile National Ranking of Impactful Practices in Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) is a biennial undertaking of the ISPOR Chile Chapter. The National Ranking was designed to assess health organizations based on the impact of their HEOR initiatives. The evaluation process was conducted with a double-masked technique and assessed by a distinguished panel of judges that included prominent national and international experts in health science and economics, academics, researchers, and leaders of a number of Latin America ISPOR chapters. 

What Was the Impact?

This strategic initiative has fostered closer ties within the scientific community and opened the way for collaborative alliances and innovative projects aimed at enhancing national health technology assessment practices. It has established the groundwork for a culture that celebrates evidence-based healthcare management, facilitating closer collaboration with governmental bodies such as the Ministry of Health, the National Health Fund, and other decentralized entities. Additionally, it has strengthened stakeholder partnerships and garnered attention from the media for its novel approach.

ISPOR regional chapter members were involved in the development of national HEOR guidelines in Algeria, Chile, Czech Republic, Ghana, India, Hungary, South Africa, New Zealand, and Thailand.

What Was the Impact?

Health technology assessment (HTA), pricing, and reimbursement or economic evaluations are being influenced in numerous countries around the world through engagement of ISPOR chapters with national governments.

 


Contributing to Guidelines Development in China

ISPOR chapter members in China participated in Pharmacoeconomic/Health Technology Assessment (PE/HTA) appraisal for the national health insurance negotiation with manufacturers. 

What Was the Impact?

HEOR expertise of members was included in key national health insurance processes.

 


Local Pharmacoeconomic Guidelines Published in Slovakia

What Was Done?

The ISPOR Slovakia Chapter published new Pharmacoeconomic (PE) Guidelines in 2022. This new edition of PE Guidelines is supplemented by new knowledge and sources of information, notably ISPOR Good Practices Report, “Consolidated Health Economic Evaluation Reporting Standards, CHEERS 2022.” 

What Was the Impact?

The updated PE Guidelines will help assure that the most recent HEOR information and guidance is available for use in Slovakia.

 


Contributing to an Economic Working Group in Thailand

Supporting Universal Healthcare Discussions in the Philippines

Since the establishment of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in the Philippines in 2019, the ISPOR Philippines Chapter has played an important role in convening discussions with government and other healthcare stakeholders. 

What Was the Impact?

Members are helping to ensure that UHC legislation in the Philippines is moving towards evidence-based implementation that adheres to principles of HEOR and patient centeredness.

 


Leading Pharmacoeconomic Guidelines Development in China

Members of ISPOR Beijing Chapter led the development of China’s 2020 national Pharmacoeconomic (PE) Guidelines.
