Description

Patient involvement in HTA and broader value assessment  is an essential aspect of promoting patient-centered decision-making in healthcare. Historically, patient involvement in these processes has been limited, leading to decisions that may not fully consider patient perspectives, preferences, and values. However, without offering any recognizable value to patients, health technologies may fail to generate value in the healthcare system. Therefore, the objective of this webinar is to emphasize the significance of patient involvement in HTA and broader value assessment and to delve into the challenges associated with it, while also presenting potential solutions.

The esteemed lineup of speakers includes Sarah Emond, President of ICER, who will share valuable insights and experiences from the patient engagement process at ICER. Additionally, Sneha Dave, Founder & Executive Director of Generation Patient, a voting member of ICER's independent appraisal committee, and a patient herself, will offer her unique patient perspective and expertise on patient engagement. Anke-Peggy Holtorf’s presentation on "Good Practices for Patient Involvement in HTA" will draw from the recently conducted "360° Review of Stakeholder Experiences with Patient Involvement in HTA" study in Europe. She will provide the audience with an array of success stories and essential findings from the study. Finally, Jennifer Bright, President of ICHOM, will present from the perspective of a patient-centered research organization, using ICHOM as an example to discuss supporting V/HTA with patient-centered research evidence.

The presenters collectively possess a wealth of knowledge and expertise, which will enable them to offer valuable insights on the specific challenges of patient involvement in HTA, drawing from their everyday practice. These insights will encompass both the United States and Europe, with a particular emphasis on presenting novel perspectives and engaging discussions related to this issue. As a result, this webinar aims to provide an enriching and informative experience for participants who are eager to develop a comprehensive understanding of patient involvement in HTA and foster patient engagement in their everyday practice.

The target audience for this webinar includes healthcare professionals involved in HTA and value assessment processes, representatives from HTA agencies, pricing and reimbursement authorities, industry professionals and stakeholders, patient organizations and advocates, and policymakers and government officials in the healthcare sector.
