Description

Collecting real-world data and generating real-world evidence from it are becoming more important for making better decisions in healthcare. Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries are often late adopters of the novel health technologies, therefore, their HTA systems could benefit from transferring data and evidence including RWD, RWE, and methods from other countries, mainly from Western Europe. However, in practice this rarely happens. The aim of this webinar is to discuss the questions: What are the main barriers which prevent transferring data and methods in CEE, originally generated in Western Europe? What are the proposed solutions to overcome these barriers and opportunities? Oresta Piniazhko will moderate the webinar and share her experience in applying transferability for methodological guidelines development and HTA conclusions in Ukraine. Bertalan Nemeth will present the key findings from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 funded HTx research project on next generation HTA, during which these questions were investigated. Aris Angelis will focus on the hurdles and opportunities of using approaches of transferability of data and methods from the perspective of the policy makers and payers, to optimize the decision-making process and act in time. From the perspective of the biggest HTA agency in CEE, Kamila Malinovska will present cases on using data and methods transfer for developing methodological guidelines and HTA recommendations in Poland.

Learning Objectives

  • Gain a better understanding of potential benefits of transferability in methods and data and considerations for applicability and transferability with the experiences and insights from the CEE countries as example.
