This session will discuss trends in the HTA/Reimbursement environment in Latin America and the drivers for value-based health care (VBHC) implementation within the region. The potential benefits of VBHC, stakeholders’ roles in VBHC, contextual barriers and facilitators for VBHC implementation, and potential future impact of VBHC to healthcare in the region will be discussed by a panel of speakers.
Dr. Hector Castro will moderate the session and will set the stage by presenting the updated definition of HTA and how this could potentially have reimbursement policy implications in Latin America and will provide an introduction on drivers for value-based health care (VBHC) implementation within the region.
Mr. Miguel Martin de Bustamante will present the evolution and status quo of HTA in decision-making across the region, discuss the role of HTA in enabling VBHC using some examples from the region, and highlight existing limitations and potential factors to further enable the transition of VBHC in Latin America.
Dr. Diego Guarin will present survey results on VBHC in 5 countries (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, and Mexico) highlighting overall hurdles for implementation, followed by a high-level summary of the different stakeholder perspectives (Patient, Provider, Payer, Producer) on VBHC.
Prof. Renata Gasparello will close the panel with a general overview of supplementary health coverage in Brazil, by providing market trends and reviewing quality induction projects, in particular the value-based payment models project, conducted by the National Regulatory Agency for Private Health Insurance and Plan (ANS, by its Portuguese acronym).

Evolución de ETS/Reembolso y prioridades para la evaluación en un entorno de salud basado en valor en América Latina
Esta sesión discutirá las tendencias en el entorno de ETS y Reembolso en América Latina y los factores que fomentan la implementación de la atención médica basada en el valor (VBHC) dentro de la región. Los beneficios potenciales de VBHC, los roles de las partes interesadas en VBHC, las barreras contextuales y los facilitadores para la implementación de VBHC, y el posible impacto futuro de VBHC en la atención médica en la región serán discutidos por un panel de oradores.
El Dr. Héctor Castro, moderará la sesión y preparará el escenario al presentar la definición actualizada de ETS y cómo esto podría tener implicaciones en la política de reembolso en América Latina y proporcionará una introducción sobre los factores que fomentan la implementación de la atención médica basada en el valor (VBHC) dentro de la región.

La Prof. Renata Gasparello, cerrará el panel con una visión general de la cobertura de salud suplementaria en Brasil, proporcionando las tendencias del mercado y revisando los proyectos de inducción de calidad, en particular el proyecto de modelos de pago basados en el valor, realizado por la Agencia Nacional Reguladora del Seguro y Plan Privado de Salud (ANS, por sus siglas en portugués).
