Multicriteria Decision Analysis and Value Assessment Frameworks: Where Do We Stand? What Next? [Editor's Choice]

Abstract

The 2018 report of the ISPOR Special Task Force (STF) on Value Assessment Frameworks recommended that health technology assessment (HTA) in the United States should use conventional cost-effectiveness analysis (CCEA) based on the quality-adjusted life-year (QALY) as a starting point. However, we emphasized that this traditional approach overlooks a number of novel or additional elements that could contribute to the economic value generated by new technologies.
