ANNOUNCEMENT

Nancy S. Berg Has Led the Society for Almost 8 Years

8x10_Berg-Nancy_925A0910Lawrenceville, NJ, USA—June 8, 2022—ISPOR—The Professional Society for Health Economics and Outcomes Research announced that its CEO and Executive Director, Nancy S. Berg, will be retiring. Ms Berg has led the Society for almost 8 years and has guided ISPOR’s growth and expanded influence globally. She will be retiring at the end of this year and working closely with the Board of Directors to ensure a smooth transition.

Ms Berg has led 3 global associations as CEO and has worked in professional membership societies for more than 40 years. During Ms Berg’s tenure, ISPOR has achieved many accomplishments and is poised to continue fulfilling its mission at the next level. Under her leadership, the Society has established and begun execution of its Strategic Plan Update 2024 and Science Strategy. ISPOR also underwent a rebranding to better reflect the organization’s role on the global stage. Ms Berg led the establishment of critical technology infrastructure, systems, processes, and business planning practices that are now mainstays of the organization. She drove the transition of ISPOR’s governance and progressive norms to ensure diversity and representation across stakeholders in the Society. Ms Berg also leaves ISPOR in a strong financial position, enabling the Society to continue its vital work despite the significant impact the pandemic has had of preventing organizations from organizing in-person conferences and events for the past 2 years.

While leading ISPOR, both Ms Berg and ISPOR received numerous awards. She was named a PharmaVOICE 100 most inspiring leader 3 times, a PharmaVOICE Red Jacket lifetime achievement awardee, and a PM360 Elite honoree, and has won a number of Stevie awards. ISPOR was also awarded dozens of awards for its rebranding campaign and website redesign.

“Leading ISPOR for these past 8 years has been a privilege and a pleasure,” stated Ms Berg. “While adjusting to retirement is going to take some time, I am thrilled by the opportunity to shift my attention away from a long and rigorous career and am looking forward to spending time with my husband and family. ISPOR has a meaningful mission and an all-star membership. I am pleased to have played a small part in the organization’s success.”

ISPOR’s Executive Committee—President Isao Kamae, MD, DrPH; President-Elect Jan Elias Hansen, PhD; Treasurer Sean D. Sullivan, BScPharm, MSc, PhD; Past President Jens Grueger, PhD; and newly elected President-Elect Brian O’Rourke, PharmD—will serve as the core Search Committee for Ms Berg’s successor. Drs Jan Hansen and Jens Grueger will guide the Search Committee as Co-Chairs toward the objective of hiring a new Executive Director by year end. An executive search firm will be engaged to support the search and selection process.
