Leverage Digital Health Platforms (DHPs) for Real-World Evidence (RWE) in Health Economics

Explore how digital health platforms (DHPs)—including wearables, mobile applications, and phone cameras—are emerging as alternative sources of real-world evidence (RWE) for evaluating pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and healthcare services. As digital transformation reshapes healthcare, this course examines whether we are prepared to embrace digital solutions as standard healthcare platforms and new sources of effectiveness data.

Technical Topics Include:

  • Overview of digital health platforms (DHPs): Wearables, mobile apps, and phone cameras
  • Value assessment of digital solutions: Critical factors for pricing and reimbursement decisions
  • DHPs as a new source of RWE: Practical applications across different healthcare systems
  • Case studies: Examining pharmaceutical and medical device assessments using DHP data
  • Stakeholder perspectives: Engaging in interactive discussions on data integration in healthcare decision-making
  • Economic evaluation challenges: Addressing complexities in intervention, outcomes, and causal pathways

This Course Includes Tools and Concepts That Can Be Immediately Applied, Including:

  • Exploration of methodologies for leveraging DHPs as sources of RWE
  • Comparative analysis of advantages and disadvantages of integrating DHP data into HEOR
  • Frameworks for adapting economic evaluation methods to capture the complexities of digital solutions
  • Recommendations for optimizing DHP data in health technology assessments (HTAs)

Participants will leave this course with the knowledge and analytical skills to incorporate digital health platforms into HEOR, advancing the role of digital solutions in healthcare decision-making.
