Description:
Patient preference methods are increasingly deployed by health care industry sponsors, research institutions and regulatory bodies to strengthen the consideration of the patients’ experience, perspectives and voice, and to support patient-focused drug development. Patient engagement, representing the meaningful and sustained involvement of patient and caregiver as partners in the design, conduct and dissemination of such research is undertaken to ensure the research is aligned with the patient community’s priorities and delivers optimal value and benefit to both patients and other involved stakeholders. In this session, senior experts within preference research, patient advocacy and patient engagement will discuss their perspectives on best practices and first-hand experiences with patient partnering in preference research.
Learning Objectives:
- What is patient engagement in health preference research studies. What does it entail and when is it done during the study process?
- Why is patient engagement in preferences research important? What are the benefits from the perspective of patients, caregivers and other key stakeholders?
- How to apply global guidelines and best-practice recommendations for quality patient engagement in practice in patient preference research?
