Description

Most African countries have integrated universal health coverage (UHC) as a goal in their national health strategies. To strengthen commitment and accelerate progress towards UHC, it is important for countries to effectively address challenges associated with expanded healthcare utilization. In this webinar, experts from the Africa region will discuss the role of HTA for advancing UHC and share lessons on how to structure health systems to implement HTA and how to use HTA to inform UHC decision-making. Dr. Tamara Kredo will discuss the critical importance of minimizing silos in national evidence generation systems to support evidence-informed decision-making, sharing her experience from the South African context and as a member of the global working group - GINAHTA – a collaboration between Guidelines International Network (GIN) and Health Technologies Assessment community (INAHTA). Dr. Justice Nonvignon will speak on using HTA to support policy decisions in Ghana as well as a few continental initiatives on HTA. Dr. Sophie Faye will present on key findings of the WHO’s 2021 global survey on HTA and health benefit packages and provide insight into WHO's work in helping African countries to establish HTA processes and policy frameworks.
