Zbigniew J. Król, M.D., Ph.D
Deputy Minister of Health of Poland
Medical Doctor, graduate of Medical Academy in Wroclaw, Poland (class 1989). In 1996 he received Ph.D. title in medicine. He specializes in pediatrics, family medicine and public health. He completed numerous trainings in organization, management and education in health care (i.e. 1995 - Belgium, Austria, 1996/97 - Collegium Medicum, Cracow, 1997 - Harvard University, USA, 2001 - USA, 2007/08 - Warsaw, Paris).
President of the Foundation of Public Health (1999 – 2000). Associate Professor in Institute of Public Health, Collegium Medicum of the Jagiellonian University (2000 – 2009).
From 2007 to 2009 Deputy Director in the Polish Agency for Health Technology Assessment and Tariff System. From 2009 to 2011 he was Board Member and Director for Public Affairs in Pfizer Poland.
Experienced in managing hospitals. He was Director of hospital in Drawsko Pomorskie (2012 – 2013) and Stefan Żeromski Specialist Hospital in Cracow (2013 – 2016).
Honorary member of the Collegium of Family Physicians in Poland. His professional portfolio includes, among others, leadership in the HTA development team, participation in the Baltic Sea Task Force (later Northern Dimension) Experts Group for Primary Health Care and in EQUIP - European workshop group on quality. He was also expert of the World Health Organization and the World Bank for the organization of healthcare system, as well as the manager of the project "Data for Decision Makers" (Harvard-Jagiellonian Consortium for Health).
In February 2017 appointed Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Health of Poland, currently responsible for public health, health technology assessment and international cooperation.
President of the Foundation of Public Health (1999 – 2000). Associate Professor in Institute of Public Health, Collegium Medicum of the Jagiellonian University (2000 – 2009).
