Ramiro Eugenio Gilardino, MD, MHE, MSc, is an experienced outcomes researcher, health economics and global health policy professional with a medical background. Over the last 10 years, he has been working in the health economics and outcomes research field having served as HEOR and market access leader for pharmaceuticals and medical devices as well as several positions in healthcare management. 

In 2016, he joined ISPOR as lead in Latin America global engagement and developed health economics and health policy content, health policy initiatives, and stakeholder engagement to advance HEOR and improve the decision-making process across the region. Currently, he is Director of Consulting & Content Strategy at ISPOR. Before joining ISPOR, he served as Health Economics & Market Access lead for Johnson & Johnson MD responsible for HEOR and market access leadership in Latin America (South region), for all business operations followed up by an extended role as HEOR leader for the Cardiovascular Care Business across Latin America. Ramiro has previous experience in healthcare management including serving as advisor to the Argentinean Ministry of Health and other positions such as the Head of Disease Management and Medical Director in Social Security, and private payers where he oversaw the management of funds for chronic conditions, health technology incorporation, and coverage policies.

Dr. Gilardino’s research interests include medical devices comparative effectiveness, health technology assessment for medical devices, pricing, stakeholder involvement and non-traditional outcomes like PRO and ClinRO. He is particularly interested in health systems sustainability within the Latin America region. He has edited a publication related to establishing health technology assessment in Latin America as well as written chapters for publications and published more than 30 articles in both indexed and non-indexed peer-reviewed journals. He continues teaching Health Economics Evaluations and Health Technology Assessment as a part-time Professor at the Universidad ISALUD in Argentina.

Dr. Gilardino received his MD degree from the Universidad Abierta Interamericana in 2003 and was trained in pulmonary and critical care medicine (Buenos Aires, Argentina). He holds a master’s in Healthcare Economics and Administration from the Universidad ISALUD (2010) and is a master’s candidate (2019) in Global Health Policy at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
