Dr. Monsanto is Executive Director for Latin America of the Center for Observational and Real-world Evidence (CORE) at Merck Sharp & Dohme. He leads a team of scientists in the development and execution of value evidence activities. He was previously Director of Medical Affairs for Latin America, where he spearheaded the development, execution, and dissemination of local data generation studies across the region and supported health economics and outcomes research capability building in the Medical Affairs organization. He joined MSD as Outcomes Research Manager in the Medical Department in Puerto Rico and later was appointed Director of Market Access for Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. Dr. Monsanto has a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree from the University of Puerto Rico, and an MS degree and PhD degrees in Pharmacy Administration from Purdue University in Indiana. He also has an Advanced Certificate in Health and Public Policy from the University of Maryland at Baltimore County. Dr. Monsanto also holds the rank of Professor (Ad Honorem) at the University of Puerto Rico, where he was Professor at the School of Pharmacy prior to joining the pharmaceutical industry. His areas of research interest are healthcare services research, outcomes research and pharmacoeconomics.
