Doug Faries graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Ph.D. in Statistics in 1990 and joined Eli Lilly and Company later that year. Doug’s early research interests included development and implementation of novel clinical trial designs to improve and accelerate decision making for drug development and neuroscience clinical trials. Over the past 15 years, Doug has focused his research interests on statistical methodology for real world data. Specific research interests include causal inference, unmeasured confounding, and use of real world data for personalized medicine.

Currently, Doug is a Research Fellow at Eli Lilly, leading the Real World Analytics team. In this role, Doug is involved with the design and analysis of observational research including comparative effectiveness analyses and the development of real world analytical capabilities.

He has authored or co-authored over 100 peer-reviewed manuscripts, edited a textbook “Analysis of Observational Healthcare Data Using SAS”, and is active in the statistical community as a publication reviewer, speaker, workshop organizer, in industry working groups, and teaching short courses.
