Daniel Luna, MD, MSc, PhD

He graduated in 1993 from School of Medicine of University of Buenos Aires. He obtained the specialty of Internal Medicine at the Hospital Italiano of Buenos Aires in 1997. He reach his PhD in Informatics Engineering at the Institute Technological of Buenos Aires (ITBA) in the 2016. The same year he obtained a Master of Science Engineering of Information Systems in the Universidad Tecnologica Nacional (UTN).

Certified Professional in Health Information Management System (HIMSS) in 2017. He was one of the creators, and coordinator, of the Medical Informatics Residency at the Hospital Italiano of Buenos Aires. He was responsible for leading the development and implementation of the Clinical Information System of that institution and served as Chief Medical Information Officer for ten years. After that, he took in charge the Health Informatics Department to present days. He also participated in the development of several training programs in the region, including a Spanish version of the OHSU version of the 10x10 program.

Throughout these years he published more than 300 articles in peer review journals, and more than 150 international conferences, is too editor/author of several books/chapters published in the field of Health Informatics. Founding member of the International Academy of Health Sciences Informatics (IAHSI). He is part of the editorial board of Applied Clinical Informatics, the Journal of Health Informatics in Developing Countries, and the Healthcare Informatics Research Journal. Member of AMIA, AHIMA, HIMSS, AAIM.

He participated as Chair and Co-Chair of the Working Group on Health Informatics for Development (WG 09), International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA), and currently is VP for Membership. Besides that he is Professor of Medical Informatics at the Institute University CEMIC and Director of Department of Medical Informatics at the Institute University of the Hospital Italiano in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
